I usually don’t step away unannounced, but I assure you, this time is for good cause.
During my seven year career so far, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but over the last year (from July 2018 until now), I’ve managed to network on social media with all types of celebrities and those in the entertainment business, both big and small.
Recently, I asked someone for advice on writing a script. I was directed to use an app, and we left it at that.
July 22nd, 2019, I was asked to submit my script! I have to say, we are both very excited, but I will remain hush about which company and what novel is being converted until things have moved further.
One thing is guaranteed-I made it to where I wanted to be. A script can be sold for almost up to $400k. I was told I could be looking at $150k up front. I also asked if I can participate in filming. As a co-director, I could receive up to an additional $300k.
Dream come true. It’s also not always what you know, but who you know.
And here is the dark side of the coin.
There are a few people I’ve told that responded negatively. I was even told I was stuck up and bragging.
One of the individuals did so during a crying fit, ultimately having to come back and say I’m fine just the way I am. However, they also realized they will not benefit from this, considering how poorly they treated me during our relationship.
He asked, I told.
Its tricky deciding who to tell, so hardly anyone knows. Next up….someone who’s supposed to be my best friend actually got mad as well, and hasn’t responded after I had to correct him- “The conversation seems so casual.” My response, “That’s because I know him.”
This person is also an author which means my rants before about these other authors was correct. They all want their manuscripts to be turned into live action film. That is perfectly okay, but since we’re acting immensely childish, I don’t feel some are deserving.
You have to put yourself in a position to deserve it. I had to. It took me seven years and tons if failures. But it isn’t just work.
It’s how you feel about your work, and if you see you can progress…do you reach out a hand to help? In the past, when I had much more time, I would allow other authors to showcase their work on my website. I did not do that to make movies in the future, I did it because everyone else was charging their fellow authors for something as simple as a synopsis and book cover placement.
Though some authors decided to stop writing, they were still very grateful I lent a helping hand.
I didn’t brag about it then and won’t now. I was receiving 10k visits a month to a website that didn’t have it’s own domain.
Your attitude will determine how far you go in life.
For the person who claims I’m stuck up…he mistreated me and lied to me the entire time we were together. He has stolen from coworkers, and customers and expected a raise.
Who would give this person a raise?
For the person who became offended because my dream came true…
Jealousy will never get you far.
And for anyone else wondering how I got so lucky.
I put good energy out into the universe, and now it’s being brought back to me.
