I know all seems lost, and for a while, my mind kept wrapping around the outcome of this year. But I can see a gleaming, bright light at the end of all this. Because someone made the right choice.
Any person of color, currently working in the entertainment business, or finally making it a little further, such as myself, have a huge reason to rejoice.
For starters, films and even books were looked at for content. So if you made a science fiction film, it was highly unlikely the film would do well. The double standard was clearly to keep the audience distracted.
Now, I am happy to announce that the Oscars are offering better opportunities for ALL genres. Aside from myself, there are AMAZING writers out there, with stories to tell that range from metaphysical to fantasy…several genres in between which didn’t get any light.
Yes, it was due to crowd control, but that’s for another blog. But seeing this brings me joy! It means the tides are shifting.
Next, they’re literally suggesting that there is no reason for females or people of ethnicity to have a fair stance in submitting their work (as well as people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ community). There should have never been guidelines in the first place!
My spiritual mother said I possibly manifested this…I wasn’t the only one putting my positive energy into this. It is very sad to see that it takes a city burning down to the ground to bring up change, but better late…than never.
I am so happy! I have big dreams for my film, and when things pick back up, I feel like I am better equipped for the road ahead.
My biggest hope, though, is that this shift is dealt with maturely. We need to make sure we do not make the same mistakes as the people who attempted to hold these things over our heads. We, the oppressed…but free…need to love, share, help, understand, communicate, and most of all respect each other…even in the face of further adversity.
So, we all need to manifest truly changing for the greater good. Stop race baiting, stop with the jealousy. Open up that third eye. LISTEN, and learn. But things always get worse before they get better.
I am PUMPED. But I still have a lot to do!
Here’s the link to the article I speak of! And as always, thanks for reading!
